Some certain parts of our body do not slim by simple weight loss. Lateral thighs, gluteal regions, abdominal areas in women and abdominal sites in men are problem areas. After weight gain lipids acummulate in those areas where slimming does not affect like other parts of body such as the face. Liposuction is useful for slimming and sculpturing those areas. After liposuction, fat stores are significantly diminished and despite further wight gain, accumulatioan is far less than before in those problem parts.
This operastion is done under general anesthesia. If the area is small, local anesthesia may suffice.In ordfer to minimise bleeding, I use a local anesthetics and vasoconstrictors (wet technique). I advise the use of corsets for 3 weeks. Pain is not a problem in this operastion. Cuts on the skin are 3-4 mm and scars are barely visible. The patient is discharged on the next postoperative day and can go back to work in 3 to 4 days. Recently liposuction has become one of the most popular operations with satisfactory results.
